Driftwood Builders Roofing Wins the 2026 ACG Austin / San Antonio Deal of the Year Award
Driftwood Builders Roofing has been named the 2026 ACG Austin / San Antonio Deal of the Year, recognizing the ownership transition that kept a longtime Central Texas roofing company locally owned and positioned it for its next chapter of growth.
The award was presented by the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Austin / San Antonio on September 16, 2026, at the Headliners Club in Austin.
For Driftwood Builders Roofing, the recognition is about much more than a business transaction.
It is a story about local ownership, entrepreneurship, and what can happen when an established Austin-area company is passed from one local owner to another rather than absorbed into a larger national platform.
A Different Kind of Roofing Company Acquisition
Driftwood Builders Roofing was founded in 2005 by Todd Munsinger, who spent nearly two decades building the company, its reputation, and its relationships throughout Central Texas.
When Todd decided it was time to transition ownership, he had an important decision to make: who should carry the business forward?
Across the roofing and home-services industries, locally owned contractors have increasingly become acquisition targets for private-equity-backed platforms and large consolidators.
Driftwood took a different path.
Todd ultimately sold the company to Nicholas Riley, a then-31-year-old entrepreneur who grew up working for his dad and uncle in home services since he was 10 years old.
The transaction allowed Driftwood Builders Roofing to remain independently and locally owned while bringing in a new generation of leadership focused on growing the company without abandoning what made it successful in the first place.
Rather than replacing Driftwood's identity, Riley's goal has been to build on the foundation Todd created.
That means retaining the company's local relationships, investing in its people, expanding its capabilities, and continuing to serve Central Texas homeowners as a locally owned contractor.
Why This Award Means So Much to Us
Winning ACG Austin / San Antonio's Deal of the Year is especially meaningful because this transaction would not have been possible without Austin.
Driftwood Builders Roofing has grown through relationships built over decades with homeowners, real estate professionals, property managers, suppliers, subcontractors, home-service companies, and other businesses throughout Central Texas.
Those relationships are not something we take for granted.
Today, we estimate that roughly 80% of Driftwood's marketing budget is reinvested with local businesses and organizations.
We work with local media, sponsor local organizations and events, develop referral partnerships with other Austin-area companies, and look for opportunities to keep the dollars generated by our business circulating within the communities we serve.
Our belief is simple:
Austin businesses helped build Driftwood, so Driftwood should help build Austin businesses.
That philosophy has become a central part of how we approach the company's next chapter.
Preserving a 20-Year Austin Roofing Legacy
Since its founding in 2005, Driftwood Builders Roofing has completed over 3,700 projects throughout Central Texas.
The company is now also a James Hardie Certified Siding Contractor, but growth for its own sake is not the goal.
As Driftwood enters its third decade in business, we want to prove that a locally owned contractor can grow while remaining connected to the community that created it.
That means investing in our employees and trade partners.
It means developing relationships with other local businesses instead of treating every company as a competitor.
It means continuing to earn homeowners' trust one project at a time.
And it means making decisions with a much longer time horizon than the next quarter.
From One Local Owner to the Next
There is something uniquely meaningful about the way this transaction came together.
Todd spent nearly 20 years building Driftwood Builders Roofing.
When it came time for him to step away from ownership, he entrusted that business to another local entrepreneur who wanted to preserve what he had built rather than dismantle it.
For Riley, the acquisition was also personal.
Long before acquiring a roofing company, he had spent time working around home-service businesses beginning at 10 years old. After earning his CPA and spending roughly nine years in strategy consulting, purchasing Driftwood represented an opportunity to combine that experience with a longtime interest in entrepreneurship and local service businesses.
The result is not a startup attempting to create a reputation from scratch and not a national corporation attempting to recreate a local identity.
It is an established Central Texas company beginning its next generation of ownership.
The Next Chapter for Driftwood Builders Roofing
Receiving the 2026 ACG Austin / San Antonio Deal of the Year Award is an incredible milestone, but we view it primarily as validation of what comes next.
Our goal is to make Driftwood Builders Roofing one of the most trusted exterior contractors in Central Texas while remaining unmistakably local.
We want to grow our roofing, siding, window, gutter, and exterior renovation capabilities.
We want to build deeper partnerships with real estate professionals, property managers, insurance professionals, and other home-service companies.
We want to continue supporting the Austin-area businesses that have supported us.
Most importantly, we want to make sure the company Todd built is stronger 20 years from now than it is today.
